Dear friends, chers amis, welcome to 2020!!! I would like to wish all of you a galaxy of blessings, love, soothing peace, warm light and inspirational magic as we usher in this extremely significant New Year and decade. I invite you to get comfortable and take your time reading this message because it is a little longer than usual. I have taken many notes from the stars on this one! I present to you a synopsis of the main astrological stories describing the transition to 2020 based on articles and podcasts by many professional astrologers and my own observations. We will talk about the Winter Solstice, the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Capricorn and the upcoming powerful conjunctions of Saturn and Pluto. Ready? Here we go!
First off, let’s briefly examine the importance of the Winter Solstice for us here in the Northern Hemisphere. The Solstice is an important turning point in the cycle of the seasons, marking an ending and a beginning regarding the Sun’s journey as we see it here on Earth. For millennia, we have celebrated the Winter Solstice as it represents the rebirth of the Light of the Sun filling our heart with hope and joy. It is also a period when the veil between our world and the cosmos is thin, allowing us to download universal intelligence at this time through contemplation, meditation, ceremony and celebration.
On December 26th, we experienced a Solar Eclipse New Moon in Capricorn. I find it remarkable that this grand new seed moment happened just before 2020 begins. Actually this New Year is sandwiched between a Solar eclipse in late December and a Lunar Eclipse on January 10th. You can feel how these cosmic events signal a seriously powerful shift in energy, setting the tone for the whole year. The spotlight is on Capricorn and the Sea-Goat means business. This eclipse is calling us to wake up, clear our mind and focus on the importance of our life mission. During a Solar Eclipse, the Moon moves in between Earth and the Sun, temporarily interrupting the auric field of the Earth and allowing cosmic energy from deep space to come down to us, which may set off some intense, bizarre or unusual events.
Jupiter was conjunct the Sun and Moon in this Eclipse. The largest planet in our system's presence in the very pragmatic sign of Capricorn signifies an expansion of consciousness and opportunities for new success by making practical decisions and useful investments. On a spiritual level, Jupiter in Capricorn is about the joy of serving, and fulfilling our responsibilities diligently and honorably. This Jupiter influence is a wonderful gift to remember for all of 2020, especially when the going gets tough. There will always be hope, faith, and cosmic support that we can lean into at anytime. Thank you Jupiter!
During that Eclipse seed moment, Chiron in Aries was in a square aspect to the Sun, Moon and Jupiter. Chiron the cosmic Healer is bringing a healing awareness to our Inner Warrior and divine masculine because this part of us will be called into serious action in 2020. As we embark upon the Hero’s quest, we need to remember and feel how strong we truly are. In all great heroic stories, we learn that the Warrior accesses her deepest sense of power only when it becomes necessary. When you reflect on your life, I am sure that you can remember personal experiences in which you were able to tap into an inner strength that surprised you. I believe that the message here is to trust that we can summon extra strength, courage and resiliency, when and as required. I sure did in writing this post! Chiron also teaches us to access a hidden treasure of wisdom by making friends with the dark places deep within our psyche.
Another important feature of that Eclipse is Uranus in a harmonious geometric connection to the Sun and Moon. The cosmic Awakener is creating quantum waves of exciting possibilities, like an electric bubble of pure raw potential. But we can only activate the potentials in this eclipse by taking strong, conscious action toward our goals.
Let’s talk more about the magic of Capricorn because there is a tremendous and very rare combination of planets in the sign of Capricorn these days leading up to the alignment of Saturn and Pluto in that sign. As a dynamic, cardinal Earth sign, the Sea-Goat is reminding us to regularly connect to the grounding, centering and healing power of the Earth by spending quality time in nature or working with crystals, stones, and loving our pets and plants. On a physical level, Capricorn is associated with the knees, bones, teeth and our skeletal structure. I think it will be very important and necessary to do any bodywork that feels right to you: Reiki, massage, Body Talk, acupuncture, chiropractic, yoga, mindful mobility, and correct posture exercises to realign our bodies and release blocked energy stored in our bones, muscles, fascia and organs.
Capricorn embodies responsible and ethical management of all our personal and collective resources in a way that better reflects our evolving values. It is becoming painfully obvious that humanity needs to do a better job of living in sustained and respectful harmony with our home planet. At its best, Capricorn symbolizes integrity. We need to ask ourselves: do our actions always reflect our genuine values and intentions? Saturn and Capricorn both teach us to slow down our movements and thinking so that we can engage in life with more clarity, integrity and purpose.
A great way to learn about the best qualities of a sign is to memorize the archetypes related to it. My favorite archetypes for Capricorn are the Captain, the Ambassador and the Wise Elder. The Captain within us embodies a cool sense of responsibility and authority that springs from an instinct to always be alert and on the ball. The Wise Elder transcends gender and age; even the younger ones on this Earth walk can express a very mature and strong Capricorn energy. Think of Greta Thunberg. The Ambassador in our psyche is on a mission to represent the best of what humanity can be, do and create. Capricorn inspires us to shine our light with dignity and all the divine intelligence stored in our DNA. But the Sea-Goat requires sacred solitude to recharge its batteries. If you find yourself craving more alone time, please know that it is perfectly natural in this time period.
Saturn, the natural ruler of Capricorn has been inching closer and closer to Pluto for some time now and will form an exact conjunction on January 10th. However, they will remain close to each other for most of 2020. As the symbol for the Task Master, Saturn rules structure, discipline, responsibility, control, law and order. Pluto, Lord of the Underworld, is arguably the most intense planetary energy, ruling the darker aspects of the human psyche, which can erupt in a crisis of transformation as hidden or repressed energies come to the surface of our reality. Kaypacha talks about planetary conjunctions as cosmic conferences where the planets talk to each other and we are invited to attend! This powerful conference is about discussing ways to renew our personal and collective relationship to power, authority, government, money and business. It is time to embrace our authentic power that comes from a clear sense of values and personal integrity. Many astrologers are talking about this Saturn – Pluto conjunction as a “changing of the guard”. We have the possibility of transforming a very old paradigm related to the patriarchy and its tight focus on control and dominance. Isn’t it time for a massive overhaul and restructuring of the structures of power in our world? Realistically, this overhaul can take a long time to unfold, yet there could very well be very drastic, messy, sudden and explosive events along the way. And that is why we need to keep our wits about us at all times.
This alignment is also about restructuring our personal lives. We are invited to take time to reflect and review our thoughts and beliefs around life commitments, lifestyle, diet, relationships, family and work. The resolutions, intentions and goals that we commit to in 2020 can deeply transform our lives and our planet. As the old energies and structures crumble, we need to step up, show up and get to work in creating a new life and new structures for the whole planet! Understanding our challenges and taking sustained action to overcome them will help us stay healthy and push us to express our best qualities and live the most empowered life possible. The world needs all of us to be our best as we navigate the transition into a new world.
What is the purpose of control? In trying to exercise too much control over our lives or others, we can feel very stressed, weighted down and burdened. When we surrender control, open our heart and allow Spirit-Source-Universe-the Force to assist us, we can release the heaviness and learn to trust life more. We are never alone; astrology reminds us that we are always connected to and supported by an intelligent universe. One possible spiritual meaning of Saturn’s conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn in early 2020 is the transformation of the lower realms of Saturn into a feeling of duty as a sacred honor.
For the first 4 months of 2020, nearly all planets will be in Direct Motion, representing a strong and intense forward movement. Things can and will probably change rapidly! Get ready and prepare yourself by embracing all this action. I will address the role of Jupiter as it conjuncts Saturn and Pluto in my next post about the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse.
Okay, we have made it to the conclusion of this post! Thank your for your excellent perseverance! 2020 is shaping up to be a most potent year chock full of potential for massive transformations and quantum leaps of evolution on so many personal and global levels if we trust ourselves, by recognizing our power and making the right decisions and taking the necessary actions. Otherwise, life will still make choices for us with less desirable consequences. We are collectively outgrowing our life structures: it is time to step out of whatever aspect of life that feels too restrictive, and make changes to build a reality that better reflects our inner growth. Where in your life do you need to grow and evolve into a better situation that better reflects your authentic self?
2020 is also the year of Vision. Often, what we see on the outside is a reflection of what we see on the inside. The energies of this year are asking us to take a deep long look and really see objectively what there is inside of us and inside the structures of the world. This is a global reality check. With a clearer inner vision, we can learn to shift from living from the outside in, to living from the inside out, in reflection of our inner truth. We have the creative power to see what life on a New Earth can look like. We can practice living from the heart as much as the brain, and learn to consistently see through the eyes of love!
It all boils down to this. We are all on a heroic journey to be the Captain of our own life. If our journey and life mission are not clear all we need to do is maintain an open mind and an open heart and take it one now moment at a time. We can trust that we are all here together for a reason. I will leave you with an inspiring message from Shelley Young, owner of Trinity Esoterics.
“There can be great joy in not knowing what is next as you are poised to move forward into the energies of 2020 and beyond. Allow the wonder, not just of the season, but of moving forward into the new. Embrace the joy of not knowing understanding that it is from that place you welcome the highest potentials and possibilities without constraint and fully harness what is opening up for you energetically. It is not only safe for you to explore from that heart space, it is exactly where your soul is leading you in order to experience the full magic of the unfoldment. ~Archangel Gabriel through Shelley Young
