In some ways, this Full Moon in Aquarius reflects energies that originated from the New Moon in Aquarius 6 months ago. How quickly the world can change! It’s impossible to predict exactly how the ripple effects manifest in the world, especially when we are talking about Aquarius and its ruling planet Uranus, which symbolize the most unpredictable forces in astrology. According to Intuitive Guide Lee Harris, August will be the most alchemical and electrical month of 2020. Let’s explore the core themes of this dynamic Full Moon chart. First we need to talk about the magic of Leo since the Sun’s arrival in the sign of the cosmic Lion on July 22. Then we will tune in to the qualities of Aquarius and the power of Uranus, which is making an intense connection to the Sun and Moon.
In late July to late August, we celebrate Leo and the life force of the Sun within all of us. Leo is very special in that it is the only zodiac sign that is not ruled by a planet. It is the Sun, the star of our solar system that animates the heart of the Lion. The Sun and Leo remind us to keep shining our light with confidence and joy.
2020 is infusing humanity with a new sense of power and purpose that will facilitate a radical transformation of society. The very rare alignment of Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter in Capricorn this year marks the beginning phase of a massive deconstruction of the structures of power in our 3D reality. This is a messy process that will take a good deal of time to complete. Imagine doing a complete renovation of a gigantic old house. You can see the chaos and destruction everywhere and may wonder if the project is really necessary. But you know deep down that the old and stuck energy needed to leave to make room for new life and growth, creating more light, harmony and a bold new look.
As we embark upon this transformative journey, we need to remember to feel the joy of recreation. Undoubtedly, it is hard to ignore the sense of disorientation, pain and loss that many people are experiencing. The serious vibration in the collective atmosphere, accompanied by the social distancing and mandatory mask wearing in public spaces may have created a barrier to the flow of the life force energy within us. Isn’t it time that we do what we can to heal and revitalize our ability to feel joy, love and hope? While preparing this post, I received the message that we need to give ourselves permission to feel deep, warm, exuberant love and faith in humanity and ourselves. We are invited to open our heart chakra and consciously take in the loving light of the Sun to warm our soul and spirit. It is time to play like children as much as we need in order to replenish our core. The cosmic Lion is asking humanity to roar, smile and reclaim our dignity, self-confidence and joie de vivre.
It’s important to celebrate the successes and positive things happening in our life and around us because, let’s face it: it is all too easy to focus on what is obviously not working or what we perceive to be not working. In the grand scheme of things, we are learning to trust the intelligent rhythms of the universe and events on Earth. As above, so below. Choosing to see what we love about ourselves doesn’t mean that we ignore the challenges of life. It is about creating space in which the wounded aspects of our being can heal. Cultivating joy and faith is just as important as developing any muscle, because whenever we need an extra boost of those feelings, it will be easier to access that frequency. Let’s now explore the unique qualities of Aquarius that the Full Moon will inspire all of us to express most potently on August 3rd. The cosmic Water Bearer is a complex sign. When you understand the deep wisdom inherent within the Zodiac cycle as a whole, you see that Aquarius represents the next step in the evolutionary journey after Capricorn. This is particularly interesting since the Sea-Goat is featured so prominently in the skies of 2020. Capricorn represents the strength of discipline, structure, stability, rules and order, which are important in the overall functioning of society. However, human beings are not simply practical cogs in a machine. Every person is a complex, independent, multi-dimensional individual with distinctive talents and purpose. Aquarius symbolizes the part of our circuitry that needs space and freedom to express the complete individuality of our authentic self. In the beginning stages of individuation, we instinctively challenge and even rebel against the social conditioning and expectations of our family and society. We need to allow ourselves the time to become truly conscious of our unique values, beliefs, thinking, communication and social patterns. It is also important to understand that we change and evolve naturally over time. The journey of self-discovery requires courage, honesty, determination and resilience, which are attributes of all the fixed signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. Stubbornness has a purpose!
The final or mature step of the individuation process is the realization that everyone else is a unique, constantly changing person as well. Aquarius helps us to respect and appreciate the rich diversity in the human collective. We are one global community of empowered individuals. As we begin to express our authentic self to the world, we naturally attract others who share similar values and passions. These people become our soul tribe family, and together will create the future. “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” (Margaret Mead) That is one of my all-time favorite quotes and it beautifully connects Aquarius to the 11th House of the birthchart.
The planets form multiple geometrical relationships in their dance across the cosmos. In this Full Moon sky, the most important influence involves Uranus, the great Awakener, who is forming a tight square angle to the Sun and the Moon on this day. Just as Aquarius follows Capricorn in the Zodiac sequence, Uranus follows Saturn in the planetary sequence radiating outward from the Sun. This information is helpful in understanding the meaning and purpose of Uranus, which is to disrupt, loosen and liberate any energy that is too tightly tethered to the limiting power of Saturn. Uranian power can create sudden shockwaves, earthquakes, lightening storms, breakdowns, breakthroughs and revelations that are designed to free humanity from the known. It is the unpredictable force of evolutionary growth.
When you consider all the forced introspection resulting from the lockdowns in vast areas of the globe the last few months, it was only a matter of time before the repressed energies erupted within the individual and collective psyche. As we have seen, these eruptions can be quite intense, violent and emotional. However, they can also birth new dreams, desires and creative initiatives. We have the right to enjoy the fulfillment of our dreams.

Sometimes we need an extra push from the universe to help us break free from the fear and limitations that have restricted humanity for too long.
