Star Notes - July 13, 2022
Dear friends, Salut, Namasté.
Welcome to the brightest and one of the most powerful Full Moons of 2022! Luna will be very close to the Earth when it becomes full at exactly 2:38 pm ET July 13th, at 21 degrees of Capricorn. May you enjoy the luminous magic and the transformative power of this moonrise. Sending you a galaxy of gratitude for reading these Star Notes, following me on Facebook, supporting my work on Patreon, reaching out for personal consultations, joining my classes and subscribing to my newsletter! My astrological work is my highest service and deepest honor. Let’s now explore the themes in this Full Moon sky.
This is the culminating wave of the lunar cycle that began at the New Moon in Cancer, 2 weeks ago. The sensitive, gentle, sentimental water power of Cancer is always the main cosmic energy flowing through the first 3 weeks of July, and represents the archetypal Mother within us that feels the instinct to create safety, security, nourishment and a comfortable home environment for our soul family. The water magic of Cancer draws us to spend quality time by rivers, lakes and the sea. I enjoyed a lovely hike around some waterfalls a few days ago. I find that rushing water and rivers naturally connect to Cancer (cardinal water), while lakes and ponds connect to Scorpio (fixed water), and oceans connect to Pisces (mutable water). Water is sacred and nature’s most soothing medicine.
The Full Moon in Capricorn will closely align with Pluto, lord of the Underworld, while the Sun will conjunct Mercury in Cancer. This Full Moon sky asks us to reflect on the teachings of Capricorn and Pluto, which involve the use of individual power and how it is used by governments and corporations. It is fascinating to observe that this Full Moon is conjunct the degree where Saturn aligned with Pluto in January 2020, just before the pandemic started. Over the last 2 years, the universe has pushed humanity to do a PhD in the personal and collective use of power, authority, control and empowerment. This Full Moon invites us to take a moment to connect with our deep self, and feel the most empowered version of ourselves.
Where does this Full Moon fall in your birthchart? This SuperMoon illuminates my Ascendant and strongly energizes my personal energy field and sense of drive. If you know your chart, look to see what area(s) are activated by 15-29 degrees of Capricorn, Cancer, Aries or Libra for cosmic clues to your evolving sense of empowerment.
Many of us could feel a heightened intensity at this Full Moon because it is a Supermoon and Luna is conjunct Pluto, planet of power, pressure, passion and transformation. The Moon is the centre of our emotional awareness, yet Capricorn is the sign that is naturally in control of feeling. There is quite a lot of natural tension in this mix, and ideally, we can channel the grounded energy of Capricorn to express our emotional sensitivity and heightened intuition with a conscious, creative sense of purpose. Expressing any kind of feeling from pain to rapture is the quintessential quality of the human experience. To be human, we must open the floodgates of emotions, but the high road of Capricorn is about being conscious of our feelings at all times and ensuring that we are grounded and cool-headed within the centre of any emotional storms moving around us.
This Full SuperMoon can also inspire us to initiate responsible actions that can help us or our loved ones to feel greater security, nourishment and comfort. We can ask: “What can I do to make things right? Whether it's a donation to organizations already laying the groundwork of positive change, gathering signatures to pass new laws, visualizing a new reality that equally benefits all, donating your time in support of your favorite charity, praying for the inspiration, direction, and resources to be of greater service to humanity, or even loving yourself as the one eternal heart existing in all beings, there is always a difference you can make -- right here, right now.” (Matt Kahn)
Uranus is making harmonious aspects to the Sun and the Moon. We could feel new urges toward freedom, liberation and innovation at this time. Uranus is gaining more and more influence in the collective consciousness because it is close to forming an exact conjunction with the North Node of the Moon in Taurus, our evolutionary destiny. The electric power of Uranus combined with the transformative pressure of Pluto could correlate to more seismic activity on the planet and/or sudden changes in economics, politics or social movements. This stronger emphasis on Taurus, the Bull could also energize a desire for more peace, simplicity, rootedness, and beauty. “If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.” (Vincent Van Gogh) In late July and early August, Uranus, Mars and the North Node will form a very rare triple conjunction, which is perhaps the most important astrological event of the whole year. We will be sailing through some huge and wild waves of personal freedom and expansion this summer! It is time to fully embody the strong and responsible Captain of our life ship.
As the archetypal Captain within us, Capricorn symbolisms the aspect of our being that has the instinct to assume responsibility and channel a deep reservoir of strength, confidence and authority to do what we know must be done. As an Earth sign, the Sea-Goat offers support for the flowing water energy of Cancer. There is a noble Captain in the heart of every human being that wants to make sure that our ship is always in tip-top condition, and that all passengers, crew and cargo are safe. Our inner Captain must also have clarity about the purpose of the voyage, whether it is a pleasure cruise, security patrol or sheer exploration of new, unchartered frontiers.
Ultimately, this SuperMoon in Capricorn can illuminate our unique sense of personal power and collective purpose. It can guide us to navigate an inner journey to better understand our soul’s innate wisdom as individual expressions of Source. We cannot control the outer world, but we are called to master our inner self, emotions, instincts and integrity. We can increase our command of our life ship, mindfully choosing where we wish to go and how fast or slowly we want to get there. We are also remembering that it is necessary from time to time to turn off our engines and anchor our vessel in a beautiful harbour to simply float and enjoy the beauty of water for a while.
