Star Notes * July 3, 2023

Welcome to the warm summertime charm of July! Sending a sky full of love to everyone in celebration of Canada Day, Independence Day, and the entire human family. Thank you for connecting with me and tuning in to this reflection on the Full SuperMoon in Capricorn, which happens on Monday, July 3rd at 7:39 am ET.
This supermoon will appear a little larger and brighter because the Moon will be very close to the Earth as it reaches the peak of its 4-week cycle. This heightens the mystical qualities and emotional sensitivity of the Moon as it energizes the global tides and waters of feeling in the world. Welcome this opportunity to feel deeper into the luminosity of your own soul in connection with everything in existence. The Sun shines in the sign of Cancer from the summer solstice until July 22nd, which begins Leo season and is also the day that Venus goes stationary retrograde. I will speak more on that in the next Star Notes.
When the Sun is in Cancer, it radiates a warm and tender light on one of the greatest human qualities: our ability to feel empathy, love and care for others and ourselves. As the first water sign in the sequence of the Zodiac, Cancer pulls us to the soothing, comforting and soul healing properties of rivers, lakes, oceans and beaches. In the northern hemisphere especially, early July is the true beginning of summer, when children enjoy a long break from school and the comfort of home. Cancer season is about rest, relaxation and family bonding. It is also about cocooning as much as we need to feel/express/explore vulnerability and tenderness, which are beautiful treasures of the human experience.
The Full Moon in Capricorn always shines a bright light on the natural relationship between Cancer, the universal mother archetype, and Capricorn, the universal father archetype within all of us. Cancer energizes softness while Capricorn stimulates toughness, each complementing the other with grit and grace. This natural polarity reminds us to practice radical self-care and radical self-responsibility, with daily rituals for the best physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual hygiene.
Letâs focus a bit more on the importance of Capricorn, the Lone Leaper in High Places. The mythological Sea-Goat is a truly magical creature that can swim in the deepest ocean and slowly climb the highest mountain. âThose of you who are mountain climbers know that, when you are at the top of a mountain, the energies are rarified and often great clarity comes to those who climb. Mountains serve as huge antennas reaching up into the atmosphere - and so you climb the mountains to breathe the most rarified of air, clear your head, and reach the peak where all existence can be seen.â ~ Barbara Marciniak, Family of Light
May this Capricorn Full Moon inspire you to visualize yourself atop a sacred and pristine mountain. From this elevated perspective, you can see a greater vista that expands your understanding of the peaks and valleys of your life. Capricorn also connects to the archetype of the Hermit; we all need time for solitude, reflection and contemplation of the journey behind us and ahead of us. The Sea-Goat within all of us thrives on goals and responsibilities that require discipline, maturity, integrity and strong authenticity. By climbing the mountains of life together, one careful step at at time, we realize our destiny and experience truly meaningful and purposeful living.
In this Full Moon sky, Mercury is snuggled closely to the Sun, in opposition to the Moon. We are called to feel deeply into the truth of our emotional undercurrents and communicate our feelings and aspirations clearly and compassionately. Jupiter is forming smooth and supportive energy to the Sun and Moon via a sextile and trine aspect, which can offer a grounded wisdom and faith on this journey.
Another important planetary alignment at this time involves Venus, planet of love and relationships, forming a square aspect with Uranus, planet of change, liberation and awakening. Venus has been hanging out with Mars in Leo lately, increasing a desire to play and enjoy life more, feel more dignity, majesty and sovereignty, or express ourselves more courageously. The influx of Uranus energy can definitely bring about unexpected and even shocking changes or âvolte-facesâ in political life and financial systems around the world. It can also stimulate brand new creative expression and awaken a new fire in our personal relationship dynamics. Both Mars and Venus recently formed a trine aspect with Chiron; this is a great time to heal or strengthen the love and joy in our heart in any way.
I would like to share some observations on the important and powerful 90 degree square aspect between Pluto and the Lunar Nodes. As the South Node and North Node get ready to change signs, as they do every 18 months, they are also getting closer to an exact square with Pluto, lord of the underworld and planet of deep power, purpose and transformation. As we look over the landscapes of our past (South Node) and future (North Node) at this time, we have a rare and very clear view of our personal and collective journey. With the South Node in Scorpio the last year and a half, there has been a purging of very deep emotional intensity and a revealing of dark secrets in many aspects of life.
With our evolutionary future flowing in the sign of Taurus during this same time, we need to channel our collective power and passion (Pluto) towards a greater understanding and appreciation of nature, our home planet, radical simplicity and living more harmoniously and peacefully. Later this month, the North Node will shift into Aries and the South Node will enter Libra, heralding a new 18- month evolutionary journey. More on that in my next post
