Aries invites us to celebrate the rebirth of spring and the rekindling of a new fire of vitality within us and the heart of the world. As the first Zodiac sign of the astrological year, Aries initiates the great cycle of life with a powerful, bold and dynamic rush of energy that is designed to inspire fresh new growth all the way to the next winter. This is the most significant New Moon of the year because it urges us to summon the courage and confidence to actualize our strongest desires, ambitions and intentions for the whole cycle. Every New Moon is like a dark night as Luna merges with the light of the Sun. In a couple of days, we will see that first crescent moon emerge in the sky and spark a new inner radiance. Picture that same thrust of life-force energy flowing through the first plants and flowers as they pierce through the earth and reach up towards the sun. Feel this warm fire flowing through all the cells, organs, muscles, bones and chakras of your body. This New Moon invites us to grow and heal by dancing around a universal fire of life.
The Sun and Moon will form a close conjunction with Mercury and Chiron, all in the sign of Aries. When I contemplate the power of Aries, the Leader, Pioneer & Hero of the Zodiac, I see the image of a sword as a mythological, archetypal symbol of personal power. In this alchemical New Moon, we can sharpen our mind with the sword of truth in order to communicate with ourself and the world with a fierce honesty. When we express these deep inner truths, we also awaken the Chiron instincts for compassionate healing. In Greek mythology, Chiron endured much suffering on his journey to becoming a wise Teacher and great Healer who initiated many Greek heroes in their legendary quests. Our wounds can connect us with a greater power, compassion and wisdom. Spend some gentle and quiet time with your wounds and ask them to communicate to you something that your body, mind, heart or soul needs to hear. Allow your wounds to be, to breathe and to exist as important and beloved parts of you.
In this powerful New Moon sky, we also have a stellium of Mars, Venus and Saturn all in Aquarius forming a square aspect to the Lunar South Node in Scorpio and North Node in Taurus. This potent configuration is stimulating a profound karmic realignment of many of our relationships, service contracts and authentic desires. It signals a time to release ancient patterns that feel constraining or emotionally draining. We have all come to some crossroads in our journey where we need to focus on responsibilities, relationships and actions that feel more natural, easy, simple and peaceful. The evolutionary pull of the North Node in Taurus is active from January 2022 to the summer of 2023.
If you follow any astrologer this year, you have heard about the very rare alignment between Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces that will be exact most of April and which only happens every 166 years. At its highest level of meaning, this transit can represent an infusion of divine love and a grand spiritual expansion for the entire world. Neptune rules all the greatest mysteries of life as well as illusion, delusion and escapism; it represents the deepest layers of consciousness that can foster a much greater sense of compassion, love and unity between human beings, our planet and the cosmos.
The more we can let go of trying to control our external reality and radically open our heart to a profound sense of surrender, to be led and supported by an enchanted universe, the more we can embody the divine love of Neptune and Jupiter in Pisces.
