STAR NOTES 🌟 July 5, 2024

Thank you for joining me in this reflection on the cosmic currents flowing in early July 2024. We honour the New Moon in Cancer at exactly 6:57 pm, on Friday July 5th, which ushers in a very yin, relaxed lunar phase. Gift yourself some time to relax in the gentle energy of rivers, lakes and ocean beaches as much as you can to savour the wonderful healing magic of water.
Let’s begin with the recent retrograde stations of Saturn on June 29th and Neptune on July 2nd, both in Pisces. When a planet stations and turns retrograde, we always feel its energy in a stronger way because it starts to move closer to Earth, which magnifies its symbolism. These planets want our attention. Since they are both slowly moving in a retrograde fashion for many months, they are pulling us into a deep inner reflection. Saturn in Pisces invites us to reflect on our life mission and responsibilities but not from a logical perspective; it’s about feeling and tuning into our intuitive understanding of where we need to focus our energy, especially relative to the area of our birthchart that is activated by 17-22 degrees of Pisces. Saturn in Pisces can also teach us to become less dense energetically, more fluid, graceful and flowing.
Saturn and especially Neptune both in Pisces bring our focus and attention on the magic of water. Neptune rules Pisces and all the water and seas of the world. Imagine that you are diving into a lovely lake or ocean. Notice how you feel different sensations and perspectives as you open your eyes to explore this new underwater scenery, which also reveals the inner landscapes of our soul and spirit. I have heard divers refer to their experience as magical and even spiritual. Pisces is a very mutable, malleable, flexible and adaptable sign. These retrogrades represent a significant change in the energy flow within and around everyone, on an individual and collective level. What is moving away from you, allowing a new flow to come in to your awareness?
When Neptune and Pisces are strongly emphasized, there may be moments or days when we feel quite tired, lost or adrift. I am feeling quite yin and tender this week but also feel reassured and buoyed knowing that this comes from a strong rush of water energy from Cancer and the activation of Neptune. I also trust that the intuitive intelligence of my heart always knows what to do. When we are feeling centred and at peace, Neptune can open the doors to a greater feeling of oneness, spiritual connection and divinity.
Ultimately, these energies are designed to boost our ability to surrender with greater faith, trust and ease in the flow of life. Here is a mantra that just came through: “I trust the flow of life to guide me safely and smoothly to beautiful new shores, landscapes and perfect synchronicities.”
This New Moon in Cancer sets into motion an energy signature that will last for a full 4-week lunation cycle. The Sun and Moon have come together at 14 degrees of Cancer, which is also within range of a conjunction with Venus at 22 degrees of Cancer. If you know your chart, have a look to see where those degrees can foster a greater sense of comfort, relaxation, safety, nourishment and emotional connection with family, friends and loved ones.
Cancerian energy is what makes a house or apartment a home. The cosmic Crab is also the sign that connects to the Divine Mother archetype. This lovely New Moon in Cancer reconnects us to the soothing waters of life. It signals a time to soak in the sacred sanctuary of tenderness and vulnerability, to nurture and nourish ourselves as our own compassionate parent and loving guide. When we allow ourselves to bathe in this vibrational energy, we come back to a feeling of oneness, bliss and magic.
Cancer is naturally ruled by the Moon, which stimulates a rhythm of emotions, changing, waxing, waning, like Luna herself, dancing with the Earth and the tides of life. I also love the esoteric connection between Cancer and Neptune, which is the god of the oceans and also the gateway between our solar system, and the numinous wisdom of the universe.
I would like to end this post with a perfectly apropos quote from my friend Shelley Young who channels Archangel Gabriel. “The more you are in touch with the divine truth of your own beingness, the more you are able to meet others with a compassionate response. It becomes profoundly beautiful love and purpose in action. For many human beings who have not yet discovered their own endless wellspring of love and connection to Source, it takes greater triggers for them to activate their own compassion. As the world continues to evolve and more and more people awaken to their true divine nature, compassion and love will become your natural go-to responses, and the way you wish to offer connection with others.
