Welcome to eclipse season and the regenerating power of Taurus, the cosmic Bull. This New Moon Solar Eclipse in Taurus is exact at 4:28 pm, Saturday, April 30th. I spent a couple of hours sitting at the edge of a lake yesterday, basking in the warm and soothing late afternoon sun. It felt so good to simply be, relax and enjoy the beauty all around me, which was exquisite and deeply soothing. I hope you are relaxed and comfortable wherever you are. One of the many joys of being an astrologer is seeing the magic of every astrological symbol. The Bull represents the earthiest, most natural and physical energy of the Zodiac. This New Moon in Taurus is beckoning us to spend more time in the healing power of nature, unwind and surrender to simplicity and pure being. When we embody Taurus, we commune with nature and all life on the planet. We rejoice in the pleasures of sensuality: seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching. Have you every noticed that when you gift yourself a vacation, you instinctively seek quality time in places and activities that bring you pleasure? Those pleasures always involve the senses: feeling the sun or the water on your skin, enjoying delicious food, listening to the sounds of nature or great music, watching a spectacular sunset and hugging your loved ones.
Taurus is often depicted as having a slow and methodical rhythm but a bull can run as fast as 55 kmh! Taurus is naturally ruled by the planet Venus, which is snuggling up with Jupiter and Neptune all in Pisces, the sign of the Mystic. Jupiter rules expansions of all kinds, Venus rules love and beauty, while Neptune rules nebulous and higher states of consciousness. This stellium in Pisces can be felt and expressed in myriad ways, such as the rise in the cost of fuel, food and housing, but at its best, it can enhance our intuition, imagination, compassion and empathy. When we have faith in the universe, we can trust the divine purpose and timing of worldly events. The rise of inflation is also an opportunity to review all of our spending and consuming habits in order to become more conscious of our core values. When we gift ourselves some quality downtime, we naturally increase our awareness of what truly matters in life. The time period of 2020 to 2024 represents a massive and intense but necessary time-out/pause/interruption for human civilization. Simply put, the modern paradigm has been incredibly destructive and unsustainable. Humanity needs to embody a lifestyle that is based on cooperation, compassion and harmony with nature. In all eclipses, there is a mysterious, cosmically charged power in the light of the Sun and Moon that resonates on some level for up to 6 months. This New Moon is all about consciously energizing our connection to the physical plane, to simply be in our human body and energize it by spending quality time grounding in nature as much as possible, bonding with animals, plants, flowers, trees, birds and sunshine. The Bull teaches us to return to simplicity, ease, peace and flow with more intuitively natural rhythms. From this more grounded and peaceful perspective, we can become more grateful for the abundance of resources that we can use to sustain ourselves, our families, communities, animals and home planet.
Uranus, the wild card planet of awakening, freedom and revolution is powerfully aligned with the Sun and Moon in this solar eclipse. Uranus is inviting us to be radically open and embrace changes, surprises, shocks, storms and earthquakes, which can help to liberate stuck energy in any area of life. This free-flowing energy is designed to create space for new growth. Taurus is connected to the Builder archetype. Like the Beaver in the Indigenous Zodiac, the Bull wants to create beautiful, functional and sustainable new structures that will enhance our life experience.
