Big love to everyone! Welcome to the warm and bright magic of the Summer Solstice on June 20 and the Full Moon in Capricorn, exact on June 21 at 9:08 pm EDT. These supercharged celestial energies can stimulate some dynamic creative expression and release. Thank you very much for tuning in with me and the enlightening magic of astrology.
Summer solstice represents the apex of the solar cycle as we celebrate the life-giving warmth and light of the Sun, and the official beginning of summer. The Sun has now entered Cancer, the sign of home, family, comfort, safety, security, nourishment, tender healing and gentleness. Cancer brings a rush of Water energy into our consciousness and energetics. The first heat wave of summer has drawn us to the cooling, soothing and relaxing magic of beaches, lakes, rivers and ocean vibes. Children are returning home and families are getting ready for summer vacations.
The magic of sumertime invites to slow down, take it easy, indulge in comforting foods and enjoy quality time with friends, family and loved ones. In the human body, Cancer rules the stomach and chest, which represent comfort, nourishment and love. We have been feeling some strong Cancerian feelings and emotional sensitivity for a few days lately as both Mercury and Venus entered Cancer on June 17th.
All Solstices and Equinoxes are fantastic opportunities to come back into a stronger energetic alignment and recalibrate our personal and collective structures, like a cosmic tuning fork. The planetary alignments at the Summer Solstice set into motion energies that will last until the Fall Equinox. With the Moon in Sagittarius at this Solstice point, we may crave more freedom to travel, explore, seek more adventures and various forms of journeying all summer. Let the cosmic Archer within you aim for an expanded sense of hope, joy, faith, meaning and trust in your truth.
Neptune forms a close 90 degree angle to the Sun and Moon. As the god of the seas, Neptune can increase the flow of water energy, which can increase psychic sensitivity, escapism, illusion and deception. We could feel some urgency to make the right choices and decisions. When we come back to our center and embrace the high road in this process, Neptune reminds us to always trust the wisdom of our intuitive heart and gut intelligence.
Neptune is particularly strong because it is at 29 degrees of Pisces, very close to the end of Neptune’s journey through Pisces from 2011 to 2025. This 14 year cycle represents a significant infusion of Neptunian energy in the collective consciousness because Neptune rules Pisces. This cycle has been an invitation to more deeply reconnect with compassion, imagination, creativity, intuition and multidimensionality.
The other day, as I was watering the gardens at my father’s house, I saw a big eagle fly over the property twice. I strongly believe that was a spiritual message and lovely blessing from my father on the other side. He used to love watering his lawn. Life can certainly feel weird, wonky and wild at times, but there are also miraculous and magnificent moments that unfold unexpectedly, when we are aligned and open.
This Full Moon in Capricorn gains prominence because it happens right after the solstice and is the first of two Full Moons in Capricorns in a row. Capricorn is the mythical sea-goat symbol of grit, grounding, structure, discipline, focus, integrity and life mission. The synergy of Sun, Venus and Mercury all in Cancer opposite the Full Moon in Capricorn, can instil a strong sense of boundaries as Cancer, the Crab wants to feel safe within its home shell, and Capricorn wants to protect that sacred space. The Full Moon in Capricorn illuminates a deep need to fulfil our core responsibilities and carve out time for quiet reflection.
The zeitgeist of these times brings into focus a great feeling of endings and beginnings, death, rebirth and transformation on a profound level. What is dissolving in your life because it is no longer necessary or has reached the end of its course? Let it flow with grace and gratitude. What is naturally birthing within you and around you? Nourish the intentions of what you want to grow in your life and tend to the new flowers that are growing in the garden of your heart. Be open to the blessings that literally fly into your lap. The same day that I saw an eagle, I went for a walk in the forest and enjoyed some sacred time by the water, sharing some deep things with spirit. When I came back to my vehicle, someone had carefully tucked a daisy on my windshield, under the wiper blade. The the next day, my neighbour spontaneously gifted me with a lovely bouquet of peonies from her garden.
